Martin, Helen and their daughter Nicola Barlow run the family business nestled opposite the green in the heart of picturesque Baycliffe village. We are five miles along the coast road from Ulverston – which you may know is the birthplace of Stan Laurel who made the big time with his pal Oliver Hardy, and is also famous for the “lighthouse” on the hill, better known as the Hoad Monument.
We have been established in Baycliffe since the late 1980’s with our butchers and bakers, selling local quality meats sourced from the Cooper Family Farm in Leece near Barrow in Furness and our home made pies and cakes. We also have bakery shops and takeaways at Amphitrite Street, Walney and Ulverston Market Hall, as well as our busy “Premier Outside Catering” business supplying everything from pie and pea suppers to wonderful wedding buffets.
Our quality beef cattle and lambs are raised on the rich Furness pastures overlooking Morecambe Bay, where the unique Furness climate and sea breezes produce the fertile grasslands that give our wonderful meats their distinctive flavour. We allow our choice cuts of meat to mature for a minimum of two weeks to ensure full flavour and tenderness is enjoyed by our customers.
Perhaps you remember what real bacon tasted like. Ours still does! Home dry cured, our meats generally are the excuse a number of people find to travel from various corners of the country to “stock up.”At the same time they take the opportunity to acquire a supply of our home made sausages, another memory re-created, and our own black puddings with that secret ingredient!
Our expert staff are happy to advise should you want something different for that special dinner party. Perhaps our Chicken Cushions, Farmhouse Roasties or our Lamb and Leek Roast! At the Baycliffe Farm Shop we are renowned for our delicious pies and those with a sweet tooth will long remember our mouth watering cakes including our creamy custard Vanilla!
We offer free delivery throughout the Ulverston and Barrow areas on orders in excess of £20.00 and we look forward to seeing you at The Farm Shop between 9.00am and 3.00pm (Tuesday to Friday) and on Saturdays between 9.00am and 2.00pm. We have ample free parking in front of the shop
